Our Initiatives
To accomplish our mission of inspiring collaborative actions addressing global warming and the restoration of ecological systems, the reset Center is focused on these initiatives:
Work with community-based partners to argue for The Rights of Nature: that nature in all its life forms has the right to exist, to maintain and regenerate its vital cycles, and that humans have the legal authority and responsibility to enforce these rights on behalf of ecosystems.
Serve as a center for the promotion of local, community-grounded agricultural practices that mimic the patterns and relationships found in nature. Collaborate with Florida Gulf Coast University and other groups in establishing and maintaining demonstration plots and other educational facilities related to permaculture, food forestry and regenerative approaches to gardening and small scale food production.
To serve as a hub for organizations, groups, and individuals advocating for clean natural water systems. To assist in developing educational materials suitable for all age groups relating to the causes of water pollution, and the means for bringing about needed restorations.
To act in cooperation with other organizations to educate the public regarding steps that must be taken to impart resiliency and sustainability to the natural world of Southwest Florida. The RESET Center will do this by employing exceptional facilities for conducting educational programs such as a lecture series, short workshops and educational programs for school children.
To partner with organizations from small to larger institutions and businesses working to mitigate the effects of global warming through political advocacy and increasing public awareness.
