Clean Water
Water is life.
RESET supports and encourages open and honest dialogue among citizen led organizations, universities, and governmental organizations to work together on resolving the root causes of SWFL’s ongoing water crises. We believe that we can all become better water stewards. Protecting our coastal wetlands along with promoting regenerative agriculture are two climate change solutions that we must address here in Southwest Florida.
Access to clean water should be a reality for all of humanity and every creature on the planet.
Water, indeed, is an underlying issue in SWFL that drives many other RESET Center initiatives. RESET was formed in part to help unify and amplify the voices of organizations and governmental agencies that need to collaboratively work together solving our growing challenge in the fight for clean water in SWFL and the Everglades.
Our unique and beautiful systems of springs, underground rivers and waterways flowing throughout Florida have been severely threatened, not only by climate change, but also by a legacy of over a hundred years of pollution and mismanagement.
Florida’s coastlines and estuaries are also at great risk from offshore drilling. Our beautiful beaches that provide quality of life as well as drive our economy are at great risk because of warming waters, sea level rise, salt water intrusion and massive algae blooms. The cyanobacteria and red tide blooms in the last few years have left our coastlines, fishing and tourism industries devastated.
The SWFL RESET Center works to raise awareness about protecting our water through collaboration, educational programs and advocacy for policy change on the local, bioregional, and state levels.
