Ensign Cowell
Ensign Cowell became an ardent environmental activist in 2012 after attending an acceptance talk by David Suzuki (You Tube 2012 Inamori Ethics Prize). Dr. Suzuki referenced the Union of Concerned Scientists’ “Warning to Humanity” letter of 1992 and the U.N. environmental assessment in which he participated in 2005. From that time onward, Ensign regarded the natural environment and climate change impacts as the sine qua non issues of our time. His professional background includes 40 years in private wealth management and early-stage venture investing. Prior experience for 15 years was in corporate finance with two Fortune 500 companies in Cleveland Ohio, with a stint as CFO of a restaurant, hotel, food service public company. Ensign has an MBA degree from The Darden School and an undergraduate degree in chemistry and economics from Dartmouth College. His home area was in northern New Jersey and he worked summers in Manhattan.
